I.  Core Styles of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu (Based on History of the Song Dynasty·Treatise on Costumes and Regalia and Archaeological Evidence)

1. Round-Collar Robe  (Universal Style in Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu)

As a most widely used style within Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu (960-1279 AD), it features a closed round collar and optional narrow/wide sleeves with an inner lining collar—adapting to both administrative and daily needs of Song men. Wide sleeves suited officials during government affairs, while narrow sleeves were favored by commoners for daily activities, reflecting the versatility of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu.
A strict color hierarchy in this style defined social ranks of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu wearers: after the Yuanfeng Institutional Reform, "purple for officials above Grade 4, crimson for those above Grade 6, and green for those above Grade 9" (Collected Drafts of the Song Dynasty's Institutional Records). Nobles chose fine silks like ling (damask) and luo (gauze) for this robe, while commoners opted for dark-colored linen or cotton versions. Officials’ leather belts (a key accessory of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu) were graded by plaques (jade for Grade 3+, gold for mid-levels), a detail confirmed by tomb artifacts from Kaifeng, Northern Song Dynasty.

2. Lanshan (Scholarly Formal Attire in Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu)

Evolved from traditional Hanfu long shirts, Lanshan is a refined formal style exclusive to scholars and students in Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu. It adds a horizontal hem band (lan) to symbolize the ancient "upper garment + lower skirt" tradition—a core ceremonial element that distinguishes scholarly attire in Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu.

Typically made of plain fine cloth or light silk (consistent with the modest aesthetic of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu for scholars), it has wide sleeves and is paired with a waist belt. The plain color palette (white, light cyan) and structure of Lanshan are corroborated by the unearthed specimen from Huang Sheng’s Tomb (Southern Song, Fuzhou, Fujian)—a physical example of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu.

3. Daopao (Zhiduo) & Zhuzi Shenyi (Casual & Ritual Subsets of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu)

1) Daopao (Home Robe): A casual staple in Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu for scholars and commoners, with a straight collar, right-side overlapping placket, and side slits attached to hidden pleats (three cloth panels stitched with folds). It reaches the ankles, with wide sleeves for comfort—embodying the daily practicality of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu. Silk versions for nobles and linen ones for commoners are verified by Zhou Yu’s Tomb artifacts (Southern Song, Jintan, Jiangsu); the monk-specific Zhiduo (called "straight-seam robe" for its central back seam) is a religious variant of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu recorded in Record of the Capital's Prosperity.

2) Zhuzi Shenyi (Ritual Robe): A ceremonial style in Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu designed by Zhu Xi based on The Book of Rites (Zhu Xi's Family Rituals). It has a crossed placket, 12-panel skirt (symbolizing 12 months), and round sleeves with square collar (implying "heaven is round, earth is square")—reserved for sacrifices, reflecting the ritual function of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu. Its 形制 is evidenced by Song Dynasty brick carvings.

4. Duanhe & Futou (Functional Components of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu)

1) Duanhe (Coarse Short Robe): A workwear style tailored for laborers in Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu, made of rough hemp with short narrow sleeves and matching trousers. Murals in the Bai Sha Song Tomb (Yuxian, Henan) depicting farmers confirm its practical design—catering to the working needs of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu wearers.

2) Futou (Headgear): An indispensable accessory to complete a set of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu. Officials wore "straight-foot Futou" (long extended sides), while commoners used "soft-foot" or "curved-foot" versions—this hierarchical difference in Futou styles is a key status marker of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu, documented in History of the Song Dynasty·Treatise on Costumes and Regalia.

II. Key Features of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu (Reflecting Song Culture and Social Order)

1) Strict Hierarchical Markers in Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu: Colors, fabrics, and accessories of Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu were rigidly tied to social status. For example, commoners were banned from wearing purple/crimson or using jade/gold decorations on Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu (History of the Song Dynasty: "Non-officials shall not wear purple"), making rank distinguishable at a glance.

2) Neo-Confucianism Influence on Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu: Designs in Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu like Zhuzi Shenyi’s "rules of heaven and earth" and Lanshan’s "ancient respect" reflected Cheng-Zhu Neo-Confucianism’s emphasis on order—an academic view cited in Study of Song Dynasty Costumes.

3) Balance of Innovation & Tradition in Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu: Practical innovations in Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu (Daopao’s hidden pleats, wide sleeves for comfort) coexisted with ritual preservation (Shenyi’s ceremonial structure), embodying how Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu integrated daily utility and traditional etiquette

Material of the Song Dynasty Hanfu

This Song Dynasty men's Hanfu is entirely made of fabric with excellent drape, feeling soft and smooth to the touch. The design of the high-waisted skirt can instantly create a visual effect of the wearer “gaining 10 centimeters in height”, making it particularly eye-catching. When worn, it makes one feel like a powerful martial arts expert from the Song Dynasty. Wrist guards can be matched with the cuffs, adding a touch of neat and chivalrous spirit. The cross-collar upper garment is available in two colors: black and dark green. No matter which one is paired with the black skirt, it exudes elegance and heroism, making it an excellent choice for martial arts enthusiasts and ancient-style lovers.

Pattern of the Song Dynasty Hanfu

This Song Dynasty men's Hanfu features exquisite golden embroidery patterns on the collar and cuffs of the cross-collar shirt (upper garment). The elegant and luxurious patterns imply an interpretation of grace and dignity. The skirt of the Qiyao ruqun (a traditional Hanfu skirt set) adopts hot stamping printing technology, with magnificent and grand patterns printed on it, which complements the embroidery on the upper garment perfectly, making the overall matching extremely harmonious. Amidst the rich martial arts atmosphere, it adds a touch of noble and elegant texture, making the overall look both unrestrained and handsome, and particularly eye-catching.

Matching Suggestions for Song Dynasty Men's Hanfu

To fully capture the essence of Song Dynasty men's Hanfu, this round-collar robe pairs beautifully with several antique-style pieces:
  • A plain white stand collar inner garment: its neckline adds subtle layers when exposed, echoing the layered silhouettes of traditional Tang men’s Hanfu.
  • Wrist guards: these bring a touch of martial spirit, referencing the military and equestrian influences in some Tang-era styles.
  • A waist belt: Opt for a double-button belt or a diéxiè belt (adorned with nine ornaments, which can hang small items like pouches—both practical and decorative, just like belts in historical Song men’s attire).
  • Hanfu boots: Neat, closed-toe boots complete the look, as footwear was a key detail in authentic Tang-era men’s ensembles.
  • A wide-sleeved dàchǎng (outer robe): Draping this over the round-collar robe enhances the grandeur of the outfit, capturing the essence of formal Song Dynasty men's Hanfu.
Wearing this ensemble feels like stepping back into Dongjing (the Song capital) a thousand years ago. Its retro, eye-catching style stands out on the street—while staying true to the authenticity of Song Dynasty men’s traditional attire.

This set of clothes includes an upper garment, a skirt, a belt, and wrist - guards.

We've happily used OxyFresh pet water additive for probably around 15 years. I love that product, so I figured their toys would be great too. Not so much. The concept seems good. This does feel like a heavy duty rubber and it feels like a sturdy construction, but in actuality, it did not hold up. Without a goal like food in it, my two dogs had 0 interest in this. It says you can put a treat in it. I wrestled to put a piece of kibble in the jaws of this toy, but that was tough and there isn't much room in there. That did pique their interest. Both my boys are about 50 lbs. One is a heavy chewer and the other is pretty gentle mouthed with toys. BOTH dogs were taking chunks out of this immediately. I must say that I'm really disappointed. If the rubber held up, this is a fantastic concept and seemed like it would work very well to clean teeth. Unfortunately for us, this was an expensive toy that began to fail within about 15 minutes of what seemed to be very average use. We'll be continuing to use a toothbrush instead.

Durable and dog loves it
I was searching for a squeaky toy but also a chew toy that wouldn’t break my dog’s teeth. We’ve already had to have one tooth pulled because our Jurassic Corgi girl cracked it on either a bone or a yak chew. She loves to play with this bone and chew on it and it has held up well. It still looks like new after several months and she plays with it daily.
